The Indian bowlers delivered a disciplined and clinical performance, restricting England to 248 runs in 47.4 overs. Despite early setbacks in their chase of 249, losing two wickets early on, India, spearheaded by Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill, secured a comfortable six-wicket win in 38.4 overs. This match marked the ODI debut of Harshit Rana and Yashasvi Jaiswal, while Virat Kohli was sidelined due to a knee injury.

England's innings began promisingly, with Ben Duckett and Phil Salt establishing a 75-run opening partnership. However, India's bowlers, particularly debutant Harshit Rana, who claimed two wickets, orchestrated a turnaround, leaving England at 77/3. Joe Root, returning to ODIs after the 2023 World Cup, forged crucial partnerships, first with Jos Buttler (52 off 67 balls) and later with Jacob Bethell. Root's partnership with Bethell yielded 59 runs, injecting a semblance of stability into England's innings.
